This is the general topic for driving discussions on Technology of Data Spaces
Dear DSSC2 OTSF Team,
I am unhappy about the current preselection of technologies in the DSSC Toolbox latest version which also shined through today in the initial presentation of the DSSC2 Toolbox and OTSF.
Only the DSP/EDC have been named next to Simpl, which does not accurately reflect the reality of data spaces we currently see. The currently used data exchange / data utilization technologies applied in data space in Europe and globally are at least five that should be named, at least in my opinion.
- EDC (already included)
- Ocean Enterprise (being applied by many data spaces in Europe)
- FIWARE
- Minimal Data Transfer Agent (DTA) with a background in Gaia-X and DAWEX
- Simpl (already named)
- iShare
- NGSI-LD (more a standardized data model, but offers metadata API capablities as well)
- Other (all the other APIs and solutions being used for the same use cases)
This selection is currently missing in the discussion and more importantly in the DSSC Toolbox Selection Fields (please see the screenshot from the DSSC toolbox form).
I would kindly ask to add the alternatives here for a good classification of the different solutions.

Regarding Identity and Trust there is still a mistake in the form as OpenID standards, as referenced in the EUDI (and EUBW) discussion are OpenID4VCI and OpenID4VP and these are named twice.
I would kindly request to clean this categorization as bit.
Since SD-JWT VCs are being named, relevant for the EUDI, then also mDoc and VC-JWT should be named here as VC-JWT is the relevant standard for the EUBW and also part of the Gaia-X Technical Compatibility for exactly this reason. If these standards are mentioned here, the DSP for the DCP community should also be mentioned, which is an alternative to the European OpenID-path utilized in many EDC-based data spaces.
Thank you for taking into account my feedback here as I would like to see an open exchange between all relevant data space technology providers here and this includes an openness to all relevant solutions, no matter where they come from.
Dear Kai, just a comment not for the content of your message but the topic that you posted this. The Open Technologies Supplier Forum has its own topic so I would suggest if you may move your post there
Thank you very much @kaimeinke this is indeed valuable feedback to us.
On top of @srogotis comment about trying to place this discussion under the OTSF dedicated topic, I would like to make another clarification:
* The OTSF is not prescribing or selecting any technologies. It is true we showed a slide with “Dataspace Adoption initiatives” that tried to position some actions that popped up in the ecosystem working on scaling up some technologies and provide guidance on how to use them. The current list includes the Eclipse Dataspaces Working Group, the IDSA Data Space Adoption Forum, Gaia-X Open Source Community, Simpl Open and the EU Business Wallet. If there are other actions qualifying in this category, we will be happy to add them to the map. In any case, the ambition is just informative.
* I think the feedback provided is more oriented to the new toolbox (rather than the OTSF). I guess our colleagues working on this (Vinith and Athitya) who were presenting the new toolbox in the webinar can definitely take this into account for the next iteration. FWIW, the current options have been done based on the latest version of the Blueprint, that mentions a set of technologies/protocols. We might need to amend not just the new toolbox but also the Blueprint itself.
